There has for untold years been speculation both far and wide as to whether or not ghosts exist. If indeed they do then they must be some form of energy.  Energy cannot be created nor completely destroyed but it can be left behind, when this occurs you experience a haunting.

When we speak of haunting events, three (3) types generally come to mind: 1^st Residual; 2^nd Traditional or Intelligent; and 3^rd Demonic.

Such events occur worldwide, and to my knowledge there is no particular area that you can consider exempt. So here is some information you may need describing each type…

1^st. A Residual haunting is by far the most widespread; they are often compared to the data stored on an audio or video recorder. In this case extreme energy emitted at the time of a violent death for example, is recorded onto the environment. When you hear the sound of ghostly footsteps, see images, or smell scents, all of which should not be there, what you are actually experiencing is a recorded playback of what happened in the past. In such cases there is no interaction with the living because the ghost does not see or hear you because he or she is not really there. Only residual energy remains; the remains of a living form that you are seeing, kind of like when you watch a video or listen to a recording.

2^nd . A Traditional, or intelligent, haunting is quite rare, but these are the type that people are generally familiar with. If you've ever seen the movie “The Sixth Sense”, you'll recall that young lad could hear, see, and speak with the ghosts around him. They were in fact human spirits that had not “crossed over” into that place where the vast majority of dead people go. They may have unfinished business with a living person, or simply have a message they wanted to deliver before they move on.

This spirit is so emotionally connected to loved ones (or despised ones) that he / she refuses “move on” after death. The possibility exists, on the other hand, that death occurred so suddenly that there is no realization of death, and therefore interaction with the living continues. These ghosts can and will unlock doors and open windows, turn on the water faucets and even interact with you directly; they have an “intelligent” presence in other words, with the personality of an individual who was once among the living but has “decided” in some cases to stay behind rather than pass over to the place some call “the great beyond”.

The 3^rd type of haunting, and undoubtedly the most alarming, is a demonic, or inhuman, haunting. In such cases, the entity / ghost is similar to a traditional or intelligent haunting described above because the spirit is intelligent as well as existing in your presents. They are typically tied to the earthly realm by one of the strongest emotions: anger.

These spirits are mean and hostile, usually suffering from psychological instability or distress stemming from some unresolved conflict with the people who are being haunted by such demonic activity. In a general sense, a Demonic presence must be “unleashed” in order for them to manifest or appear.  For this reason, “Ghost Hunters” and “Spiritualists” often discourage interaction with such seemingly harmless items or ‘games’ such as the Ouija Board.       

 

Carl Johnson, a demonologist, with The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS), located in Warwick, Rhode Island, USA, put it like this, “...while some of these devices may at first appear to be utterly harmless and regarded as tools to aid in tapping into one's sub consciousness, the results can be likened to leaving open one's back door in a country setting. Now, you may only have some little squirrels and chipmunks wander into your kitchen, but odds are that eventually you'll find yourself facing down a bear, maybe a small cub, IF YOU'RE LUCKY. And keep in mind, where there's one “bear,” others are lurking somewhere close by!”
