Area 51

Our Government’s Best Kept Secret?
The Area 51 border and warning sign shown above states that their is no trespassing permitted on the premises and that "photography is prohibited" as well; in the event that either is attempted, the "use of deadly force is authorized" under the terms of the 1950 McCarran Internal Security Act, so as to insure that such actions do not  occur.

Less than 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada is the most famous military installation on the planet. Rumors spin around this secret base, much like the mysterious aircraft that are known to twirl and curl through the skies overhead. Although it's known by many names, such as: The Box, Paradise Ranch, Groom Lake, Watertown Strip  Dreamland and most recently as Homey Airport;  most people simply call it by the Atomic Energy Commission's (AEC) nickname: Area 51.

There are no gates but those who stand guard have authorization to shoot anyone who attempts to penetrate its border.   I expect it’s good to know that there is no “record” of anyone ever being shot for trespassing into area 51, but signs are posted aplenty warning that deadly force will be used on individuals brave or foolish enough to put the warnings to the ultimate test.

Sometime during the late 1950’s; the skies around “Dreamland” became home to an assortment of unidentified flying objects. Locals considered that such sightings of strange lights in the sky and other unexplained phenomena were little more than commonplace.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere in 1989, via information revealed by Bob Lazar, a resident of Las Vegas, brought the strange and questionable activities at that are known to occur there into international view. Lazar claimed, to have amazing inside information on the stark terrain most of us call Area 51, the same Area 51 which until recently (July 14, 2003) our government even denied existing in the first place.

Lazar claimed that he worked at Area 51 (he called it S-4) during 1988 and while there he came to realize that it secretly served as a military location for the study and reverse engineering of flying saucers. Lazar claims he saw nine different alien discs while working there and even offers details on the types of propulsion / fuel they used. Excluding the fact that his credibility became questionable after the schools he claimed to have attended had no record of him, and others in the scientific community had no memory of ever meeting him; it’s considered by most to be a colorful story.

In all likely-hood the real story behind Area 51 is most probably more down to earth…Technically, Area 51 is a U S air force base, which is in fact a remote detachment of Edwards Air Force Base, located almost 200 miles to the southwest and as such that base (Edwards) is known as Air Force Flight Test Center (Detachment 3). Also located at Area 51 and situated on the southern shore of Groom Lake, is a large military airfield. The primary purpose of the base and the airfield is for the support, development, and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems.  And yes, considerable effort is made to keep most of the research and development done there (such as stealth aircrafts) secret.

While most of use may prefer to believe colorful stories told by individuals such as Bob Lazar, I mean Americans love a good mystery as well as anyone, especially if a government conspiracy is party to the scheme, the simple fact remains that our government is just not that smart.  If you really believe otherwise, then your future may best be served by elected political office, once there you will have a much better chance at becoming a player in the alleged conspiracy.  The problem then arises “what to do with the new secret information” that you obtained during your time spent.  If you choose to “go public” then very much like Bob Lazar, you’re educational background and all association with former colleagues will be squelched.
